This policy explains what personal data Truesize.co.uk ("we", "us") collects, why, and what rights you have. We follow the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who is responsible for your data
- Website visitors and company accounts: we are the controller of the data described below.
- Shoppers using the size advisor on a store's website: the store is the controller and we process the answers on its behalf, following its instructions.
What we collect
Company accounts
Name, email address, company name, website, country and a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you pay, Stripe handles your card details; we never see or store full card numbers, only a customer reference and the status of your subscription.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form we keep your name, email, company (if given) and message so we can reply.
Shoppers using the size advisor
Height, weight, age, body shape and fit preferences, optional items such as a usual size, the size recommended and, later, whether the order was kept or returned. We do not ask for a shopper's name or email. Answers are used to give the recommendation. They are stored anonymously to improve advice only where the shopper ticks the optional box, and are deleted after 24 months.
Technical data
Our servers log requests (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to keep the service running and to detect abuse. These logs are kept for a limited time: IP details for 45 days and security events for 180 days.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the service and your account: performing our contract with you.
- To answer messages and give support: our legitimate interest in running the business, and steps before a contract.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse: our legitimate interest.
- To handle payments, tax and accounting: legal obligation.
- Optional analytics cookies: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from "Cookie settings" in the footer.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run Truesize.co.uk: hosting, email delivery, and Stripe for payments. They may only use data to provide their service to us. We do not sell personal data. If a provider processes data outside the UK we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
How long we keep it
- Company accounts: while the account is open, then up to 6 years for accounting and legal claims.
- Contact messages: up to 24 months.
- Shopper size data: 24 months.
- Server and security logs: as stated above.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time. If you are a shopper, please contact the store you shopped with first, as it controls that data; we will help it respond.
To use these rights, contact us through the Contact page. If you are not happy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
