Wrong size is one of the most common reasons fashion orders come back. Truesize.co.uk helps shoppers choose the right size before they buy, using answers they can give in under a minute and the real outcomes of past orders.

The problem we are fixing

Every brand sizes a little differently. A shopper who is a Medium in one shop can be a Large in the next, so they guess, or order two sizes and send one back. For a store that means return shipping, handling time, stock that sits out of sale and a customer who is less likely to come back.

Size charts exist, but most shoppers do not read them, and a chart cannot say how a particular product actually fits. We built Truesize.co.uk to close that gap at the moment it matters: on the product page, before the shopper adds to bag.

What Truesize.co.uk does

Truesize.co.uk is a size and fit advisor that you add to your product pages. A shopper answers a few quick questions and gets one clear size, with an honest indication of how sure we are.

• Quick questions: height, weight and how they like clothes to fit. Optionally, a brand and size they already know.

• One clear answer: the recommended size and a confidence level (high, medium or low), with a button that carries the size back to your store.

• Works with your sizing: your own size charts come first, per category or per product. We only fall back to our general chart when you have none.

• Learns from your orders: when you report orders and returns, the advice gets sharper, and products that keep coming back for size are flagged as running small or large.

How a recommendation is made

For every shopper we use the best method available, in this order:

1. Shoppers like you. We look at kept (not returned) orders from people with a similar build and see which size they kept.

2. A size they already know. If they tell us a size that fits them in a brand, we start from that.

3. Your size chart. Height and weight ranges you have entered for each size.

4. Our general chart. A sensible starting point when nothing else exists yet.

Early on there are few orders to learn from, so the confidence is lower. It improves as real outcomes arrive. We would rather show a cautious answer than a confident wrong one.
